Buggle is yet another bubble popping game facebook game. It is an arcade game developed by Cookapps. The game has quickly gained popularity among facebook users and last month it saw an addition of 590,000 new users. It has many rivals; bubble island, bubble safari and bubble witch saga are just to name a few. The question is that, with its few twists in the formula will it be able to distinguish itself from the competitors?
The theme of buggle is that players are casted in the role of a hungry bear that is after stealing honey from a colony of bees living in the tree. The bear is armed with cannon to fire colored bubbles. The bee hive also consists of different colored bubbles. When three or more matching bubbles are connected they are busted and disappear. If this eruption makes other bubble detach from the top of screen, they’ll fall into honey pots placed at the bottom. Each of these falling bubbles are worth particular points.
To complete each level you have to make all “wasp “bubbles fall off the screen. Once you manage to do that, you’ll be awarded a bonus for the remaining bubbles in the cannon and a star rating depending on the score accumulated in a particular level. Buggle is different from other bubble popping games because of its slow paced and puzzle like feel unlike other games simply require you to pop all bubbles on the screen.
As players’ move on to higher levels, they get to use different magic bubbles too. These bubbles carry special abilities; like the “bomb” bubbles let you whip clear a small area of bubbles in one shot while “cure” bubbles have the ability to clear off “obstacle” bubbles that other wise hinders the progress of player. These magic bubbles can be accumulated to spending soft currency which is acquired either by clearing levels or by spending facebook credits. Using facebook credits, players may acquire “Magic Jars” which enhances players’ ability permanently. They get more bubbles to fire every level plus accurate guideline for aiming them.
The game includes a leaderboard showing scores of particular level while the overall leaderboard displays stars earned by the player and their friends. Another social feature allows you to brag about your achievement on friend’s timeline. Like many other facebook games Buggle doesn’t push you to invite friends in the middle of the game, however it does pick a list of 50 players to invite in to playing whenever it loads. This can be cancelled with a click but it can be annoying for those who just want to play for the sake of competition rather than fun.
Buggle is a decent bubble popping game with a puzzle like feel. It is off to a very good start but it still remains to be seen if players will stick to it.
